rBus, a startup offering AC bus services in Mumbai, has raised an undisclosed amount of seed fund from India Quotient, People Group founder Anupam Mittal and others. Company will use these funds to expand operations and strengthen its technology platform.
Mumbai-based, rBus was founded by Siddharth Sharma, Anshul Khandelwal and Vivek Choksi in 2015. rBus is a focused on delivering urban mobility at massive scale. Eschewing wasteful private vehicles and expensive metro projects, rBus believes that a smart bus system can solve world’s urban mobility problems today, without any additional investments in infrastructure or technology. rBus provides services like wi-fi, app-enabled payments, flexible timings and live tracking of buses.
“Urban mobility is a massive problem and consequently a huge opportunity in India. Public transport alone cannot solve many of the challenges and so needs to be complemented with innovative solutions like cabs on demand and now buses on demand,” said Anupam Mittal.
Presently, rBus covers 11 routes in Mumbai. With over 40 daily trips, the service caters to more than 500 commuters.
